A Roaring Day Out: Visit to Vasona Lion Safari 🦁

​If you’re looking for a quick escape into the wild without leaving Silvassa, the Vasona Lion Safari is an absolute gem! Just a short 15-minute drive from the city center, this 25-hectare sanctuary feels like a hidden slice of the Gir forest. The adventure begins the moment you hop into the caged safari van—it’s a bit of a thrill knowing the “king” is somewhere nearby!
​As the van rumbles through the tall grasslands and thick trees, the anticipation builds. On my visit, we were lucky enough to spot a majestic Asiatic Lion lounging under a shady tree. Seeing these powerful creatures up close, with their golden manes and calm but intense gaze, is honestly a breath-taking experience. The park is well-maintained and provides a safe, natural habitat for the lions while giving us a rare glimpse into their world.
​The safari itself is short—usually about 20 to 30 minutes—making it the perfect morning activity before heading over to the nearby Satmaliya Deer Park. It’s a wonderful spot for families, photographers, or anyone who just needs a little nature fix. Watching the sunset over the Vasona plains on the way back was the perfect “cherry on top” of a wild day!
